Sussex has conducted extensive work on the cost
effectiveness of site investigation for contaminated
land, reported in around 20 international publications.
They have pioneered new approaches of quantifying
sampling and analytical quality, estimating uncertainty
associated with measurements, and balancing these
factors with reference to financial constraints.

is a technology-based company which specialises in the

cost-effective contaminated land management. Cybersense
supplies arange of tools including XRF (X-ray
fluorescence), immunoassays and chemical test kits for
the measurment of a wide range of contaminants in soil
and water. In
addtion Cybersense markets its core technology ROTAS
(Rapid On-site Toxicity Audit System) technology
developed as a rapid system for the detection of
toxicity.

industrial stakeholder for contaminated land in the UK,
providing expert strategic advice on and effective
management of property issues. Over
the last ten years the dedicated Environment Team at
NGPH has embarked upon more than 500 clean up projects
restoring land to beneficial use.
This has resulted in over 1,500 acres of land
reclaimed since January 1996. Over the past four years
the Company has spent over £10 million on research and
technologies to ensure the latest and best clean-up
methods are being used.

Corus

world. Land Quality Research at Corus Research,
Development and Technology (RD&T)
is undertaken within the Environment Department. The
Environment Department has a long experience of
collaboration on UK & European funded research, and
has participated in and led many RFCS (Research Fund for
Coal Steel) and Framework projects. The key
responsibilities are; i) to
design, implement and report on research activities and ii)
to provide expert technical support to the UK Business
Units thereby ensuring adherence to relevant legislation
and avoidance of legal and financial liabilities.
The
Group are committed to the development, evaluation and
ultimately regulator acceptance of field-testing
technologies.

is an independent not-for-profit organisation set up to
stimulate the regeneration of contaminated land in the
UK by raising awareness of, and confidence in, practical
and sustainable remediation technologies. CL:AIRE Technology and Research Group (TRG)
provides credible, third party appraisals of remediation
technologies.
